Portal Companion Cube Dress

So here's what has been taking up all my spare time the last couple of weeks! My local Lolita group have been planning a themed fandom/geek meet for a while and it finally came around last weekend. I decided that I wanted to make a dress based on the companion cube from the Portal video games. It took a bit longer than I expected, I had to draft a new bodice block, but it was so worth it. I love it!!

And the meet was so much fun, everyone put loads of effort into their outfits, I loved seeing them all. I hope we'll have another fandom meet one day, I already have more ideas. Here's me wearing my dress.

I learnt a bunch of new techniques making this too - box pleats, encased shirring, modifying my basic bodice block. Usually I'm fed up with sewing after finish a project (probably because I usually leave things too late and end up having to rush *stress*) but not this time! I cant wait to do more.

  1. I have nominated you for the liebster award:
I have written a new post update on our meet-up and need to hear from you
I have been loving this outfit SO much!

  2. Would you be willing to sell a dress like this? It's absolutely perfect :3

  3. Sorry I was the one who asked you about selling Just so you know :3

    1. Hi! I've thought about making another one to sell or doing commissions but I don't have a ton of free time and I've never sold any of my handmade clothes before so I'm not sure if people would think the quality is good enough! I've also thought about making a skirt version to sell as that would be a bit more manageable but I don't know if people would be interested in that :/

Thanks for your comment though! If you're really still interested you could always drop me an email at
